Permanent Makeup Lip Refresh in Berlin

Later renewal of existing lip colour

Assessing existing lip pigmentation and colour

If your pigmented lip colour looks faded or your wishes have changed, Olga Keller first assesses what is already present. At Kosmetikinstitut Expert in Berlin, she discusses remaining colour, contour and lip skin with you. Whether a later refresh is appropriate and which additions are possible is assessed personally.

Which design suits your existing pigmentation?

Before further pigmentation, the planned design must work with existing colour and skin condition. Very dark pigment, marked colour changes or an unwanted contour cannot always be covered simply. Our permanent makeup for lips overview explains the options for an initial treatment.

Depending on the starting condition, the following design elements can be discussed:

  • Aquarell Lips: A soft gradient and its desired intensity are planned to work with the remaining pigment.
  • Full shading: For stronger colour coverage, we first assess how much pigment is present and whether additions are appropriate.
  • 3D colour design: Existing light-to-dark transitions and the desired visual effect are assessed together.
  • Contour with shading: The position and shape of the old contour determine which additions are possible within the lip area.
  • Lip Light: An existing light accent at the Cupid’s bow is assessed separately; it cannot always be renewed unchanged.

  • Individual technique planning: The design is based on existing pigment and your lip skin.
  • We use REACH-compliant PUREBEAU pigments made in Germany. Ingredients and known allergies are discussed beforehand. REACH compliance does not guarantee an absence of allergic reactions or a permanently unchanged shade.
  • Clear advice: You learn which additions are realistic and when another approach may be needed.
  • Personal treatment: Olga Keller plans and performs the pigmentation herself and discusses your wishes with you.
  • Your comfort: Tell Olga Keller about sensitivity and discomfort. Options for pain relief and breaks are discussed together.

An initial assessment of another studio’s work

You can send a photo of your existing lip pigmentation for initial orientation. Whether a normal refresh, a separate correction or another initial approach is appropriate is assessed in person. Neutralisation of every cool or bluish tone cannot be promised.

When might a refresh be appropriate?

A consultation may help if colour or contour has changed or you would like the existing design assessed. Reasons may include:

  • The colour looks lighter or uneven.
  • The contour looks less defined.
  • The colour looks cooler and you would like it assessed.
  • You would like work from another studio assessed.

The process: assessment, mapping and pigmentation

Assessment, mapping, colour choice and care are agreed with you personally:

  1. Assessment: Olga Keller checks the condition of the old pigmentation and discusses your color preferences (intensification or nuance change).
  2. Mapping and agreement: The planned contour is drawn and reviewed with you in the mirror. Pigmentation begins only after your approval.
  3. Pigmentation: The agreed additions are made using the appropriate technique. Sensations are individual; breaks and options for pain relief are discussed beforehand.
  4. Personal aftercare: You receive recommendations for your individual healing course.

Would you like your existing lip pigmentation assessed? At Heinrich-Heine-Straße 62D in Berlin Mitte, Olga Keller discusses suitable additions and next steps with you.

The touch-up included in our initial treatment package usually takes place after 4–6 weeks. It is used to assess and, if needed, supplement the healed result. A later refresh is a separate appointment with its own agreed scope and price. Our PMU refresh overview also explains this distinction.

We agree the exact touch-up date individually during your consultation and after treatment. We take healing, your availability and personal circumstances into account, and arrange a different date with you if needed.

Health, contraindications and cold sore precautions

We discuss lip skin, medical conditions, known allergies, medication and previous lip treatments beforehand. Medical assessment may be needed where there are health risks. Inflamed, injured or unhealed lips are not pigmented.

Cold Sore Prevention Before Lip Pigmentation

Irritation of the lips can trigger another outbreak in people prone to cold sores. Tell us about previous episodes, even if they were a long time ago. Blisters, tingling or other signs of a developing outbreak need to be discussed and may require postponing the appointment.

Discuss with your doctor in advance whether preventive medication is appropriate for you. The product, timing and duration are determined medically. Prevention may reduce the risk but cannot guarantee that an outbreak will not occur.

Discuss health factors beforehand

  • Acute herpes outbreak on the treatment day.
  • Blood clotting disorders or blood-thinning medication: Medical advice is required beforehand to establish whether treatment is possible. Do not stop prescribed medication on your own.
  • Ongoing chemotherapy: We do not perform pigmentation during treatment. Discuss a suitable time with your oncology team; a treatment break does not automatically mean clearance.
  • Acute infections or fever.

Temporary limitations and appointment planning

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: We do not perform pigmentation during this time.
  • After filler injections, we plan treatment no earlier than four weeks and only when the lips have fully healed without irritation. Agree the timing with your treating professional and with us; healing may require a longer interval.
  • Fresh Scars: The tissue must be fully healed.

Frequently asked questions about lip PMU refresh

Work from another studio is first assessed according to remaining colour, contour and skin condition. A photo via WhatsApp helps with initial orientation but does not replace an in-person assessment. Not every old pigmentation is suitable for a simple refresh.

A change may be possible depending on the existing contour, remaining colour and skin condition. The new design must work with existing pigment. Olga Keller explains beforehand which changes are realistic and when a separate correction or another approach may be needed.

A refresh is planned according to actual fading, your lip skin and your wishes. A fixed schedule of 1.5 or 3 years does not suit every pigmentation. This differs from the early touch-up in the initial treatment package.

Pain perception varies individually. You may feel scratching, stinging or pressure during pigmentation. We discuss your sensitivity beforehand and ask you to mention any discomfort during treatment. A pain-free treatment cannot be guaranteed.

For lips pigmented by us, a later refresh currently costs 200 € instead of 300 €, with around 120 minutes planned. A normal refresh of another studio’s work costs 250 €, with around 120 minutes planned. Select the origin during booking. Any further appointment after a refresh and possible costs are agreed individually.

Avoid lipstick and other decorative cosmetics while lips are still broken, irritated or unhealed. You receive personal aftercare advice; a fixed period of five or seven days does not fit every healing course. Seek medical assessment if symptoms worsen.

Tell us about previous cold sore episodes beforehand. Irritation may trigger another outbreak. Discuss with your doctor whether prevention is appropriate; the medicine, start date and duration are determined medically. If blisters or early tingling develop, discuss the appointment with us again.
