Microshading in Berlin: Fine shading for your eyebrows

Gentle shading

Fine shading for your individually planned brows

Microshading can enhance your eyebrows with fine shading and make daily filling easier. During a personal consultation at Kosmetikinstitut Expert in Berlin, Olga Keller plans the shape, colour and intensity to suit your face, skin and preferences. You assess the effect together after healing.

What is microshading? Fine shading with pigment dots

Microshading describes fine shading with small pigment dots. Depending on the desired result, it can also be combined with hair strokes. Powder Brows focuses on a powder effect across the brow. You discuss the suitable approach personally with Olga Keller.

While microblading draws individual hair strokes with a blade, small pigment dots create shading in microshading. Density, shade and gradient are individually planned for your brows. Microshading is part of our permanent makeup for eyebrows services.

Who is Microshading Particularly Suitable For?

Whether Microshading suits you depends on your skin, the desired effect and any existing pigmentation. Olga Keller assesses these points during your personal consultation:

  • Individual skin assessment: Shading may also be an option for oily skin or enlarged pores. Suitability and colour retention are assessed individually; longer-lasting results than with other techniques cannot be promised in every case.
  • For the "makeup look": When you fill in your eyebrows daily and want more density than just fine hair strokes.
  • Existing permanent make-up: Before a correction, we assess the remaining colour, shape and skin condition. Not every old pigmentation can be covered with Microshading; lightening or removal may be needed first.
  • For more volume: Perfect for visually filling in sparse brows and giving them more expressiveness.

Soft or defined? Your personal brow consultation

With microshading, subtle gradations make the difference: a softly fading brow front, a gently emphasised arch and a shade that complements your skin and natural brow hairs. Olga Keller draws on her many years of experience to tailor the shape, colour and technique to your face and wishes. She also discusses how you usually wear your brows: barely made up, lightly enhanced or deliberately defined. During the initial mapping, you assess the shape together and agree on the character of the shading.

Olga complements her traditional expertise with modern consultation tools. At your request, she uses her own AI-assisted software to compare different brow shapes, shades and techniques in a digital preview. For microshading, this makes it easier to discuss whether you prefer airy shading or a more defined gradient. The visualisation helps make subtle differences visible and clarify your ideas together with Olga.

The additional AI preview is optional. A fully traditional consultation also includes Olga’s personal recommendation on shape, colour and technique. A digital version provides a starting point for discussion. The plan is then refined through her professional assessment and the outline drawn on your skin; pigmentation begins with your consent.

The Process of Your Treatment

We take time for you. A professional microshading in our Berlin studio follows a clear protocol:

  1. Consultation & Analysis: We discuss your wishes and analyze your face shape as well as your skin type.
  2. Mapping and agreement: We measure the brows and outline the planned shape. You check the design in the mirror and discuss adjustments with Olga Keller before consenting to pigmentation.
  3. Pigmentation: Small pigment dots are placed using a fine needle. Sensations vary from person to person; a pain-free treatment cannot be guaranteed.
  4. Personal aftercare advice: You receive guidance on care during healing. Surface healing often takes around 7–10 days but varies individually; the colour effect continues to change over the following weeks.

Visual Explanation: Think of the difference between Microblading and Microshading like in art: Microblading is drawing with a fine pencil (clear lines), while Microshading is like working with an airbrush or soft charcoal (soft transitions, volume, and depth). Both are beautiful – the choice depends on your desired style and your skin canvas.

Contraindications: When is Caution Advised?

Before pigmentation, we discuss your skin condition, medical conditions, known allergies and medication. Health risks may require medical advice. Inflamed, damaged or sunburnt skin in the brow area is not pigmented.

Discuss health factors beforehand

Please tell us about the following circumstances in advance so we can assess whether and when treatment is possible:

  • Acute skin conditions, inflammation, injuries or sunburn in the brow area: Treatment is postponed until the skin is intact again.
  • Blood clotting disorders or blood-thinning medication: Medical advice is required beforehand to establish whether treatment is possible. Do not stop prescribed medication on your own.
  • Diabetes mellitus or known wound-healing problems: Please ask your treating doctor beforehand whether pigmentation is possible.
  • Epilepsy or autoimmune conditions: Your health, treatment and suitable timing are assessed beforehand with the involvement of your treating doctor.
  • Tendency to form keloid scars: We do not perform pigmentation if you have a known tendency to develop keloids.
  • Chronic infections, such as hepatitis or HIV: Please tell us beforehand. Whether treatment is an option is assessed individually based on your health, therapy and medical advice.

Temporary limitations and appointment planning

Please discuss your appointment with us beforehand in the following situations:

  • Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: For the protection of your child and due to hormonal fluctuations, we do not pigment during this time.
  • Acute Infections: In case of cold, flu, or fever, the body should recover first.
  • Antibiotics: Please tell us in advance which medicine you are taking and why. If necessary, we consult your treating clinician to establish whether and when pigmentation is possible. Do not stop prescribed medication on your own.
  • Previous cosmetic treatments: Please tell us in advance when and where you have had Botox or fillers. We agree individually on the interval before pigmentation and involve your treating clinician if needed.

Important Preparation

To achieve the best possible color result, we ask you to:

Frequently Asked Questions about Microshading

Microblading is a manual technique that draws individual hair strokes with a blade. Microshading describes shading with small pigment dots. Depending on the desired result, hair strokes and shading can be combined. The suitable approach is agreed during your personal consultation.

Microshading may also be an option for oily skin or enlarged pores. Olga Keller personally assesses your skin condition, desired intensity and any existing pigmentation. Suitability, colour effect and longevity vary individually; the technique is not automatically suitable for every skin type.

Pain perception varies individually. During pigmentation, you may feel scratching, stinging or pressure, for example. We discuss your sensitivity beforehand and ask you to mention any discomfort during treatment. We cannot guarantee a pain-free experience or less pain than with Microblading.

As a rough guide, the shading may remain visible for around 1.5 to 2.5 years. The actual duration depends on factors such as skin condition, UV exposure and care and may be shorter or longer. We assess a later refresh according to actual fading. This is separate from the touch-up included in the initial package, which usually takes place after 4–6 weeks.

The complete Microshading package (new application) currently costs 350 € on offer. This includes professional consultation as well as a free touch-up usually after 4–6 weeks.

The aim is shading that suits your face. Shape, colour and intensity are agreed during consultation and preliminary mapping. The effect also depends on your skin and healing; a particular appearance cannot be guaranteed.

Surface healing often takes around 7–10 days but varies individually. Do not pick off scabs. The colour effect continues to change over the following weeks and is assessed after healing. The touch-up included in the package usually takes place after 4–6 weeks; the exact timing also depends on your healing progress. Seek medical advice if discomfort increases, redness is unusual or you develop a fever.

Yes, this is called "combination brows" or "hybrid brows." Here, hair strokes are drawn at the front (Microblading) and shaded at the back (Microshading). We are happy to advise you on which technique is best for you.

Skin characteristics, pigment selection, UV exposure and aftercare can affect colour appearance and fading. We use REACH-compliant PUREBEAU pigments made in Germany. A permanently unchanged shade cannot be guaranteed; colour development is assessed individually.
