Lip Blush Healing — Why the Colour Looks Strong, Then Pale
Right after a Lip Blush treatment, the lips often look more strongly coloured than the final result will be — and a few days later suddenly pale. Many women then feel unsure. Yet this exact course is completely normal. At Kosmetikinstitut Expert in Berlin, Olga Keller, owner and master artist, accompanies every lip permanent make-up treatment personally and explains the healing process to you exactly.
Day 1 to 2: the colour looks most intense
Right after the treatment the lips are most strongly coloured and may be slightly swollen. This is because the pigment is still completely fresh in the uppermost layer of skin and the lips are reacting to the treatment. This intensity does not correspond to the later result — it will soften considerably.
Important in this phase: care for the lips well, keep them moisturised and consistently apply the care recommended by Olga Keller. This way the colour heals evenly.
Day 3 to 5: the lips flake slightly
Now the lips begin to flake slightly — a natural part of healing. The uppermost layer of skin gently peels away, and the colour looks paler or uneven in places. This is no cause for concern.
Very important: do not remove the flakes yourself and do not pick at the lips. If the skin heals on its own, the pigment is optimally preserved.
Day 5 to 7: the colour looks too pale
After the flaking comes the moment that unsettles many: the lips suddenly look very pale, almost as if hardly any colour is left. Over the freshly healed skin lies a thin new layer of skin that temporarily veils the pigment. This too is completely normal.
Be patient: the pigment has not disappeared, it is just temporarily harder to see. Over the following days the colour gradually comes back to the surface.
Week 2 to 4: the colour returns
Now the actual result shows itself. The colour stabilises, looks softer and more natural than on the first day and blends harmoniously into the face. Only now do you see how your lips will look permanently — fresh and natural.
Often a touch-up after about four to six weeks is worthwhile, in which the colour is perfected and any pale spots are filled. Only then is the Lip Blush truly complete.
